The Outrigger Hospitality Group global showcase event has wrapped up after a week-long series of events and appointments in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. During the three-city tour running from 25-27 October, Outrigger’s head office executives and hotel representatives from Hawaii, Fiji, Thailand, Mauritius and the Maldives showcased the company’s recent news and next phase of reinvestment and growth.

Leading the 21-strong delegation was President and CEO Jeff Wagoner, Executive VP and Commercial Marketing Officer Sean Dee, VP Hotel Operations The Americas Mike Shaff, VP Sales The Americas Angela Murphy, and VP Sales and Marketing Asia Pacific Andrew Gee.

Jeff and Sean stressed Outrigger’s business objective of retaining the ‘premier beach resort company in the world’ moniker. Additionally, they revealed that Outrigger is actively looking to come back to Australia with a beach resort.

Guests included key wholesalers and product managers, specialist travel agents, tourism industry partners, airlines, and travel and lifestyle media. Lucky door prizes were won throughout each night, including return flights and accommodation to Outrigger’s resort destinations.

The event launched in Brisbane at Black Bird Function Facility, followed by Pan Pacific in Melbourne, and finished at L’Aqua Darling Harbour in Sydney.

In development news, Outrigger has opened three Thai properties in the last year in Surin Beach Phuket, in Khao Lak, and most recently in Koh Samui, which opened in August.

Last April, Outrigger announced that it had acquired the five-star Outrigger Maldives Maafushivaru Resort, previously named Maafushivaru Resort, adding another premier beach property to its expanding global portfolio.

Outrigger’s flagship property, Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort has undergone an extensive US$80 million refurbishment which includes renovated guestrooms and the reimagined Kani Ka Pila Grille restaurant, and most recently the completion of the Coral Reef Penthouse, which rivals all other resorts as the best penthouse in Waikiki. The anchor restaurant Monkeypod Kitchen by Peter Merriman will be the final piece of the refurbishment puzzle, slated to open in Q2 2023.

Another addition to the portfolio is the newly acquired Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa. US$50 million renovations to the property have begun, due to be completed in 2023.
