The rains held off for most of the day at Broadwater Parklands last weekend, with large numbers of locals and visitors turning out for the inaugural Gold Coast Beer & Cider Festival.

Thirty-three exhibitors showcased high-quality craft brews from around Australia, along with seltzer, cocktails and gin tastings.

Food trucks, live music, and kids’ activities kept the crowd entertained throughout the day.

The festival was organised by the Schwartz Family Company, which has operated the Canberra Craft Beer & Cider Festival for over a decade, and the Hunter Valley Wine & Beer Festival.

Event organiser, Jenny Farrell, from Schwartz Family Company, said it had been very fortunate that the rain held off till mid-afternoon and the crowd appreciated the variety of craft brews available for tasting.

“We received very positive feedback, especially as the festival was family friendly, and offered quality entertainment and food to accompany the beer and cider,” said Ms Farrell.

“We will be back again next year with a bigger festival and hopefully sunny weather to match the golden brews.”
