The latest World Art Tours collection of the Art Gallery of NSW Members organisation is out with several new art-focused international tours for 2023. These include the first-ever tour to Saudi Arabia; a deep dive into classical Greek mythology of mainland Greece and Crete, a special Art Deco-focused tour to Singapore, and a new series of affordable, in-depth single destination tours.
The latest Art Gallery Society of NSW-branded World Art Tours offer is credited to a 20-year partnership between the Art Gallery Society of NSW (one of the largest museum membership programs in Australia) and the Sydney-based special interest tour operator, Renaissance Tours.
Funds raised from the Society’s World Art Tours program have generated up to $400,000 a year for the Art Gallery Society of NSW. They have assisted the AGNSW Members purchase over 40 artworks for the Art Gallery of NSW over the course of the association’s 60-year history.
“Our World Art Tours program has made a significant contribution to the Society’s ability to purchase works by artists such as Ian Fairweather, James Gleeson and Jeffrey Smart, as well as photographs by Sue Ford, Bill Henson, Rosemary Laing and Simryn Gill, and sculptures by Ah Xian and Pascale Martine Tayou,” said Robert Heather, Executive Director of the Art Gallery Society of NSW.
“Over the past two decades, through our program of tours, we have taken art lovers on scores of diverse, expert-led artistic and cultural journeys around the world,” Mr Heather said.
