The long-awaited announcement was finally made by the Japanese Government last Friday, 23 September and Japan’s borders will officially be opening to independent travellers on Tuesday, 11 October 2022!
Webjet data reveals Aussies are incredibly eager to travel to Japan again and are already making plans:
- Searches to Japan jumped over 232% on Friday, 23 September when the announcement was made
- From Friday, 23 September to Tuesday, 27 September, the searches for travel to Japan increased by 196% compared to the previous five-day period
- From Friday, 23 September to Tuesday, 27 September, the bookings made from Australia to Japan increased by 322% compared to the previous five-day period
