Upon being notified of the prize, Anne Bain commented, “I’ve been to Seattle before and found the waterfront and mountainous backdrop absolutely stunning. I’m looking forward to returning and taking a dream cruise to Alaska. I’ll be taking my husband with me and can’t wait to experience the sights of the Pacific Northwest together.”
Many wonder, “Why cruise to Alaska?” The answer is easy. Renowned as “The Last Frontier,” Alaska boasts unspoiled scenic splendors of staggering mountains rising above glaciers “calving” as they thunder into icy waters. Be astounded by the rich cultural heritage of Alaska’s history from its First Peoples to Russian traders and gold miners. Cruise highlights include stops in Ketchikan, Sitka, Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay National Park and Reserve, Icy Strait and Victoria, Canada.
With a backdrop of Washington state forests, mountains, and sparkling Puget Sound, the Port of Seattle has been the natural gateway to Alaska for more than 100 years. 45% of Alaska cruises depart from Seattle from April through October. In 2023, the Port anticipates 1.4 million cruise passengers departing on over 280 voyages via seven major cruise lines for 7 to 14-day roundtrip cruises on 13 ships.
Ships depart from two cruise terminals in Seattle: Bell Street – Pier 66 (home to NCL), located downtown along Seattle’s waterfront, and Smith Cove – Pier 91, a 15-minute taxi ride from the city’s retail core which serves two cruise ships at a time.
