The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (the Reef Authority) will make the keynote presentation at the Australian Cruise Association Conference Breakfast on Friday, September 9, the closing event in the 2022 Annual Conference program to be held in Townsville.
Each year, ACA organises a speaker from an organisation working closely with the local communities in which their Conference is being held.
“We have had some wonderful local speakers attend our Conference breakfasts who have been able to make an important connection between our delegates and the destination,” said Jill Abel, CEO of the Association.
“This year we are delighted to welcome Fred Nucifora, the Director of Reef Education and Engagement at the Reef Authority. He will present a broad ranging discussion on the current and future health of the Reef along with observations on the important relationship with the cruise industry and how this can produce positive results with lessons for other communities.”
The Reef Authority was established in 1975 as the lead management agency for the Great Barrier Reef, one of the world’s most iconic natural areas.
They work together with Traditional Owners, other government agencies, community organisations and industry partners such as CLIA and ACA to help manage and protect the health of the Great Barrier Reef for future generations.
“Our Friday breakfasts are a wonderful finale to our conferences and help to inspire, motivate and educate our delegates” continued Abel.
The breakfast will be held at Peppers Blue on Blue Resort, Magnetic Island.
