September is Bourbon Heritage Month, an occasion that was founded to celebrate America’s ‘Native Spirit’.
To help local Bourbon lovers celebrate in style, the ‘Cheers! Spirits from the USA’ campaign – which is sponsored by the Distilled Spirits Council of the U.S. (DISCUS) and supported by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) – has collated a few key Bourbon events that are taking place around Australia during the month.
These experiences will be hosted by some of the most iconic Bourbon brands, including Angel’s Envy, Old Forester and Woodford Reserve, and seats are guaranteed to go fast, so get in quick!
On the events, Charles McEntee, Director of Export Promotion for DISCUS says, “Bourbon is one of the most popular spirits around the world, but Australians seem to have a particular love for it because of its versatility to be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in a cocktail. Whether you’re a whiskey aficionado, someone looking to learn more about Bourbon, or even if you’ve never tasted it, these events will educate and entertain you.”

This is the first time Australians have had the chance to taste more than one Old Forester Birthday Bourbon at a tasting event (let alone three). The evening will be a celebration of the nuanced differences between the three separate releases of one of the world’s most sought after ‘unicorn’ Bourbons.
Released once a year, on George Garvin Brown’s Birthday (Founder of Old Forester) in limited numbers, this expression is often over 10 years old and over 100 proof, and every release is exceptional.
In 2005, Australia agreed to recognize Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey as distinctive products of the U.S. This ensures that products sold in Australia as Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey are produced in the U.S. in accordance with U.S. laws and regulations.
