Hosting on Airbnb may appear to be a daunting task at first, but once you get into the groove it’s an incredibly rewarding experience. At the end of the day, who better to know what a traveller wants from their accommodation than someone who has done the travelling themselves. We spoke to all 13 of Airbnb’s Top Hosts Under 30 located throughout the Asia Pacific region and collated a list of super simple tips that will have you ready to welcome your own guests from the day you decide to take the plunge and register as a Host!
- Bring your experience to the table: Many Hosts have been guests at Airbnb’s and other accommodation throughout the world in their own travels, and they know exactly what they liked and what they would like to change. Bring some of your experiences to create a stay that you would love to stay at.
- Housekeeping helps: It should go without saying that cleanliness and punctuality are a significant part of what it takes to be a Host, but staying across these two key areas will ensure that your guests are focused on their experiences at your stay rather than the tedium.
- Guests are just friends you haven’t met: There are many approaches to Hosting, but many of the Top Hosts agree that some of their greatest memories in life have been some of the experiences they have shared with their guests – be it a soccer match or a craft session. Approach Hosting guests with the same passion and flair that you would have to welcoming visiting friends and you will go a long way to having a fantastic Hosting experience.
- Inject some of your own flavour: Accommodation is an incredibly personal space and guests want to feel like they are staying at home. Airbnb’s Top Hosts encourage you to bring your own flavour to the furnishing and design of your space – it’s these personal touches that keep guests coming back for more.
- Go the extra mile: There’s no one-stop-shop for the perfect Host-guest relationship, but Airbnb’s Top Hosts say that going the extra mile with small touches is the easiest way to make guests feel like they are being completely looked after. It doesn’t have to be expensive either – a simple welcome note or local’s guide to the area are some of the touches that guests across the world love to see.
