On Friday, 12 August, the first scheduled flight (since the break due to Covid-19) from China to the capital region landed as planned.
Hainan Airlines now connects BER with China for the first time. The airline, which is one of the ten best airlines in the world according to Skytrax rankings, arrives on Fridays at BER, non-stop from Beijing with an Airbus A 330. The return flight to the Chinese capital takes place on the same day. Due to Chinese infection control regulations, the flight includes a stopover at Dalian Zhoushuizi Airport before arriving in Beijing.
Tickets for flights to and from BER are available on the airline’s website at hainanairlines.com as well as from travel agencies. The flight times (local time in each case) are as follows:
- Departure from Beijing (PEK) Friday 2:30 am – Arrival at BER 6:40 am
- Departure from BER Friday 16:50 – Arrival at Dalian Zhoushuizi (DLC) 8:25 the following Saturday
- Departure from DLC Saturday 23:45 – Arrival at PEK 1:10 the following Sunday
The aircraft provides passengers with 260 economy class seats and 32 business class seats. Depending on the booking class, the airline offers its guests the use of the priority lane and access to the Lounge Tempelhof at BER.
Before the break due to Covid-19, Hainan Airlines had connected Beijing and the former airport Berlin-Tegel between September 2008 and March 2020. Travel between the two capitals will be much easier thanks to the resumption of direct scheduled routes to Beijing. Entry into the People’s Republic of China is also subject to visa requirements and infection control regulations.
