Each year, on August the 16th, the UNESCO-protected town of Stari Grad in Hvar, Croatia, celebrates the Day of Stari Grad and its patron saint, St. Rocco. To mark the occasion this year, Maslina Resort, the 5* mindful luxury, located in the neighbouring bay of Maslinica, has announced it will be celebrating the day with several activities for guests staying at the resort.
With the local identity a strong part of the resort’s philosophy, guests are invited to take part in a complimentary workshop with local artist Tatijana Politeo, where they can decorate, and of course, then eat, the distinctly Croatian biscuit Starogrojski paprenjak.
Continuing the celebration, members of the resort’s staff will also be wearing traditional costumes, borrowed from the town’s traditional dancing group and dating to the middle of the 19th century, whilst guests will also be invited to try the traditional sweets of Pašurate, Arancine, and Bruštulone which are all made from the island.
The annual Day of Stari Grad festival dovetails perfectly with the rich cultural and natural heritage of Hvar Island. Brought to life in the cultural, culinary, and therapeutic settings of Maslina Resort, the celebrations expand the boundaries of the mindful luxury ethos that honours the natural world-a celebration for the body and soul.
