After three and half years as General Manager at Edgewater – Lake Wānaka , Catherine Bone has announced she is resigning and will return to the United Kingdom later in the year, to be closer to her family.
Catherine guided the hotel through the great tourist year of 2019, followed by the unprecedented management challenge of the subsequent Covid 19 outbreak. She then led the business and staff through the torrid impacts of the pandemic and, more recently, the ongoing recovery.
In conjunction with the Edgewater Board, Catherine has advanced planning for a major refurbishment programme. Stage one is due to commence in April/May 2023.
According to Chairman of the Board, Andy Macfarlane, “Catherine’s hard work leaves the hotel ideally reposition for the benefit of our family of NZ owners and future guests. Catherine also leaves a legacy of having created a great team of staff, who she has shepherded through the pandemic”.
The iconic, independently owned and operated Edgewater hotel is situated on the shores of Lake Wānaka . It holds a 4.5-star Qualmark Silver grade and, with over 100 rooms, attracts a strong international market, growing domestic market and appeals to the corporate and weddings sectors.
“Catherine finishes her role at the end of October 2022, and she is actively working with the board to have a smooth transition to a new General Manager”, concludes Andy Macfarlane.
