Pullman Melbourne on the Park has just unveiled the spectacular renovation of its William Clarke Skye Villa located on the top two floors of the flagship, 419-room hotel.
Designed by leading architects DKO, the William Clarke Skye Villa is a luxurious split-level layout villa with a spacious living and dining area, king bedroom, kitchenette and a generous walk-in-robe leading to an opulent bathroom with a free-standing spa bathtub overlooking the MCG.
A multi-layered material palette, including marble, brass and leather, creates a sense of opulence while specially designed windows with metal shrouds act like frames transforming the magnificent views of the city into works of art.
Contemporary art from Australian artist Angela Roskell adorns the walls while slim line flat-screen TVs in the living area and bedroom add an additional level of comfort and entertainment.
“The William Clarke Skye Villa is the jewel in the crown of our recent $40 million renovations. Perfectly positioned opposite the MCG and the Sports and Entertainment Precinct it will take the luxury hotel experience to a whole new level,” says Erkin Aytekin General Manager of the Pullman Melbourne on the Park.
The luxurious villa pays homage to Sir Willam Clarke who owned the Cliveden Mansion, the original building on the site that the hotel sits on today.
Born of English descent, Sir William’s roots led him to be raised to the baronetage in 1882. He was the first Victorian to be granted a hereditary honour.
Sir William was also royalty in the sports industry after serving terms as president of both the Victorian Football Association and the Melbourne Cricket Club. His other properties included Rupertswood Estate in Sunbury, which is known as the birthplace of The Ashes urn.
The renovation of the William Clarke Skye Villa completes a recent hotel upgrade including 19 floors of Superior, Premium and Deluxe rooms and suites as well as a new Executive Lounge, positioning the Pullman Melbourne on the Park as one of Melbourne’s premium hotels.
The exquisitely appointed rooms include windows with metal shrouds and a chaise to relax and enjoy the view. Privacy glass in the bathrooms switches back and forth between a clear window panel and a non-transparent opaque panel, allowing guests to enjoy the stunning views even from the bathroom.
Positioned on Level 18 of the hotel, the new Executive Lounge features plush velvet sofas, marble tables, a large flat-screen TV and a bar area making it the perfect place to relax and take in the sweeping views of the MCG and the iconic city skyline Port Phillip Bay.
The recent hotel upgrade of Pullman Melbourne on the Park concludes the comprehensive renovation program and follows the earlier investment made to transform the ground floor lobby and reception and the popular Cliveden Bar & Dining areas.
The Cliveden Bar & Dining is a casual dining experience where the best local Victorian produce meets traditional European preparations and Australian native ingredients.
Pullman Melbourne on the Park is located at 192 Wellington Parade in East Melbourne, opposite the MCG, Rod Laver Arena and Melbourne Park precinct. It is a popular destination and the ‘Home of Sports’ to host teams and spectators attending AFL, NRL, Cricket and the Australian Open tennis.
The William Clarke Skye Villa is opening for bookings at $5,000 per night.
