A full-size Greyhound Australia coach wrapped in an image of two snorkellers exploring the Great Barrier Reef has stopped at Bondi Beach to bring working backpackers to Queensland.
Queensland Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe today launched Working Holidayer at Bondi Beach to help backpackers in the southern states escape winter.
“The snorkellers on the side of the Greyhound coach show young Australians and overseas backpackers what they could be doing after work in Queensland,” Mr Hinchliffe said.
“It’s not unusual to find a few backpackers at Bondi at this time of year, that’s why we’re launching Working Holidayer at the beach.
“Winter is coming to Bondi.
“But in Queensland, the home of Australia’s endless summer, there are hundreds of tourism businesses hiring in world-class holiday destinations.
“If you can see yourself as a Great Barrier Reef deckhand, a dinosaur tour guide in the Outback or a barista on a tropical island, Queensland is the place to be this winter.
“Working Holidayer is a terrific opportunity to live, work and stay warm in a Queensland holiday destination.
“Queensland tourism is firing again after Covid.
“What tourism operators need is more workers to meet the demand for great Queensland holidays.

“Queensland has tourism jobs for the taking and filling them is important for the industry’s Covid-19 Economic Recovery Plan.”
Working Holidayer is a Palaszczuk Government partnership through Tourism and Events Queensland with Greyhound Australia and Travello.
For backpackers leaving Sydney or Melbourne for a Queensland tourism job, Working Holidayer offers discounted coach tickets and free tourism experiences.
Including $299 Greyhound Australia Working Holidayer passes with 30 days of coach travel in Queensland over three months for the first 1,000.
Plus, a $200 voucher for Queensland tourism experiences from Travello’s Backpacker Deals.
Greyhound Australia CEO Dan Smith said the iconic coach company was excited to be part of Working Holidayer.
“Greyhound has been bringing working holidayers to Queensland for over 90 years, so the team jumped at the chance to deliver spectacular reefs, sandy beaches, lush green rainforest, vast Outback spaces, magical night skies and quaint regional towns, along with thousands of hidden and gems,” Mr Smith said.
Travello CEO Ryan Hanly said the campaign was perfect for supporting Queensland tourism.
“Queensland is the best place to spend winter in Australia, so this is an amazing chance for working holidaymakers to take advantage of the warm weather and amazing experiences Queensland has to offer because let’s be honest, where else would you rather work?” Mr Hanly said.
“The industry is crying out for staff, so this is an awesome way to support tourism operators.”
Member for Cairns and Assistant Tourism Minister Michael Healy said the Queensland wrapped Greyhound coach was one of 14.
“The Great Barrier Reef snorkellers on the side of the Greyhound coach have been turning heads at Bondi, even in the Lifeguard Tower,” Mr Healy said.
“We want backpackers and Greyhound Australia’s 14 Queensland wrapped coaches to be moving billboards.
“Over the next year, coaches and Great Barrier Reef snorkellers will be up and down the 4,000 kilometres of national highway between Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns.
“In Cairns where I live there are tourism jobs galore, and the world-famous Reef and World Heritage-listed rainforests right on our doorstep.” queensland.com/workingholidayer is a one-stop-shop for backpackers travelling to Queensland.
