Now through October, Rocky Mountaineer will operate its first full season of its new Rockies to the Red Rocks rail tour between Utah and Colorado. The company famous for it’s glass domed carriages through the Rockies will provide passengers on this two-day train journey between Moab and Denver with scenic highlights best seen by train, including crossing the Continental Divide. When passengers arrive in Moab, Rocky Mountaineer’s official partner, Moab Adventure Center, can book tours to national parks, river rafting, mountain biking and more.
Circle the Wagons
Glamping may not have been founded in Utah, but the state has arguably perfected it. It doesn’t get more luxurious than Camp Sarika by Amangiri opened during the pandemic, or just look to Under Canvas, who have more camps in Utah than any other location and will open a fourth on June 2, 2022 near Bryce Canyon National Park. And it’s not just tents, but tipis, yurts, treehouses, tiny homes and Conestoga wagons. Visitors can overnight in a Conestoga wagon – the pinnacle of Utah’s Western and pioneer history – at resorts across Utah, the newest opening near Zion National Park, Zion Weeping Buffalo Resort.
Utah Heritage Cuisine
As Utah is currently the fastest-growing state in the U.S., many chefs are finding new food lovers across the Beehive State. Local restaurants are increasingly looking to their communities and Utah’s history for inspiration and ingredients, and more and more are starting to incorporate cultural dishes from Utah’s Native American and pioneer heritage. Celebrated chefs like Tamara Stanger, who has worked closely with the James Beard Foundation and been featured on The Food Network, are so locally focused the phrase “Utah Heritage Cuisine” has been coined to capture what she is creating at The Lakehouse at Deer Creek in Utah’s Heber Valley.
