Bonza has today announced its incoming Chief Operating Officer as Michael Young who joins with 35 years aviation experience including as CEO of Tasman Cargo Airlines and COO of both SaudiGulf Airlines and Jetstar Japan and extensive experience of the Australian market.

Young will lead all aspects of Bonza’s safety and operations delivery, as well as leading the relationship with the Australian regulator CASA. His remit includes flight and cabin crew, engineering and ground services and he’ll also oversee operations delivery including Bonza’s on-time performance.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Michael join our team at Bonza. His proven track record and approach to planning and operational skills will see Bonza continue the great work we’ve achieved to-date in preparing for take-off,” said Tim Jordan, CEO of Bonza.

He joins as the independent low-cost carrier continues to progress positively through the regulatory process and as the airline recruits for around 200 cabin crew and pilot roles.

Young’s Australian carrier experience includes Tiger Airways and Virgin Australia where he was GM Operations and Planning and GM Airline Operations for a total of six years. During his time at Virgin, Young was responsible for planning existing and new operations, overseeing network operations, aircrew planning, airports planning and pricing, business performance and freight.
