Travel journey between New Zealand & Australia amid Covid-19
Both counties shut their borders at the earliest as the unprecedented spread of Covid-19 rattled the world in 2020. However, in March-April 2021, the countries decided to form a travel corridor to assist leisure tourism, business travel, and other forms of travel between the two nations.
However, as the spread of Delta took a heavy toll on the Australian economy, New Zealand decided to suspend the travel corridor. Later, Australia decided to reopen its international borders in a phased manner and finally reopened its borders in February. However, New Zealand remained cautious, and finally decided to reopen its doors to Aussies from April 13.
