For keen ocean explorers, SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium has unveiled it’s new Dive Into The Deep exhibit.

A first for SEA LIFE Melbourne, Dive Into The Deep features a 14 meter immersive digital projection that takes guests on a journey through the depths of the ocean and the stages of time – from the Jurassic period to today.

The story of these ocean zones and the incredible marine life that resides within it is explained to kids through engaging wall graphics and digital imagery and includes:

Sunlight zone (0-200meters): nearest to the surface of the ocean, with the most sunlight and plant growth and more than 90% of all marine life living in this zone.

Twilight zone (200m-1000m): just a small amount of light penetrates the water at this depth. Only animals that have adapted to low light survive in this zone, such as sperm whales.

Midnight zone (1000m-4000m): bathed in darkness, 90% of the ocean lies within the midnight zone where the water pressure is extreme and temperature is near-freezing. The midnight zone is where we find mysterious creatures including the giant squid and anglerfish.

For those who are brave enough, step inside the jaws of a megalodon – the largest predator to have ever called the ocean home over 2.6 million years ago, and bigger than three great white sharks combined!

The Dive Into The Deep exhibit is also home to some incredible real-life aquatic creatures, including a tasselled anglerfish, octopus, lungfish, clownfish and more.

Dive Into The Deep opens to the public today – it is a permanent exhibit and is included in the admission price. To book tickets, visit: https://www.visitsealife.com/melbourne/tickets-passes
