The Australian Hotels Association (AHA) welcomes the exclusion of foodservice businesses from being forced to comply with costly Country of Origin Labelling requirements.
AHA National CEO Stephen Ferguson said, “Australia’s hotels, restaurants, pubs and cafes have more than enough on their plate right now without having to be burdened with additional compliance.”
“We are pleased the Evaluation of the Country of Origin Labelling reforms agreed with the AHA’s submission that the costs of imposing these requirements on hospitality venues outweighed the benefits,” Mr Ferguson said.
“When dining out, customers can of course ask where their food has come from, but insisting all menus contain this information is unreasonable and we are pleased the report came to the same conclusion.”
