Dubai is bringing back the Airbus A380 to serve Brisbane daily starting on 1 March 2022, as travel demand rise due to the opening of the Australia borders on 21 February.
The Boeing 777-300ER plane currently flies to and from Brisbane six times per week. The A380 double-decker airliner will fly seven times a week starting 1 March 2022.
Approximately 3,000 additional tickets per week will be available because of this increased frequency and an increase in capacity due to the aircraft change.
The A380 Emirates superjumbo has returned to Brisbane for the third time in its history. When Emirates’ A380 service to Sydney begins on 1 March 2022, there will be twice-daily flights between Emirates’ hub in Dubai and Sydney. On 1 February 2022, daily A380 flights from Sydney to Melbourne will begin.
“Since late last year, we have been busy quickly adapting our operations and boosting capacity in response to demand arising from the re-opening of our borders. As part of our unrelenting commitment to the country, we have been determined to return to normalcy, where possible, as the travel industry recovers from the pandemic,” Emirates Divisional vice president for Australasia Barry Brown said in a statement.
“We are also thrilled to see the A380’s return to Brisbane, making it the latest addition to our A380 network and making it our third point in the country to be once again served by our iconic aircraft. With the latest changes, we have introduced to our operations in Australia, travellers to and from Brisbane will have more opportunities for leisure and business travel.”
