1. Lake Hamana Cycling Event – Hamaichi 2022
When: 12 & 13 March 2022
Spring is welcomed to the region with a renowned cycling event that takes place around Lake Hamana every year. This year 2000 cyclists are expected to flock from around Japan and overseas to compete in the 19th Lake Hamana Cycle Touring / Hamaichi 2022. Cyclists can enjoy the beauty of Lake Hamana in spring on either the full course (about 75km) or the middle course (about 60km). Cycling around the lake is much loved by locals and visitors alike, as is being able to enjoy the local fare after a great day of exercise in the fresh spring air.

2. Traditional Festival -Princess Road Procession (Hime-sama Dochu)
When: 26 March 2022 (the event will be streamed online in 2022)
Time-slip back to the Edo period with the Princess Road Procession (Hime-sama Dochu) a festival re-enacting the travels of the daughters of noble families and feudal lords on ‘Himekaido’. Since 1952 this traditional festival has taken place every year in Hamamatsu City. Dressed as princesses in palanquins, their samurai attendants, hand maidens and servants in stunning period costumes, a procession of around 100 parades through the Kiga area in Hamamatsu’s Kita Ward. 3. Floral Festival – Lake Hamana Flower Festa
When : 19 March to 12 June 2022
Main Venues: Hamamatsu Flower Park and Hamanako Garden Park (+ 13 other sites)
Hamamatsu experiences the longest hours of sunlight in Japan and is known for it’s stunning floral calendar year round. In springtime nature bursts into millions of blooms and the city becomes host to the Lake Hamana Flower Festa. A total of 15 venues showcase a variety of floral feasts for the eyes. Hamamatsu Flower Park comes alive with possibly the most beautiful cherry blossom and tulip garden in the world, so spectacular it looks unreal. The wisteria garden is also a sight to behold. By mid-April, around 300,000 Nemophila flowers (Baby Blue Eyes) bloom in Hamanako Garden Park. From an observation deck, visitors can gaze onto the blue carpet of flowers and enjoy sweeping views of Lake Hamana beyond. Learn more: LINK
