After two of the toughest years the travel industry will ever face, a group of travel agents gathered last Monday (January 17) at the Shangri-La Sydney to support each other and look to the future with hope.
The group of 14 travel agents travelled from across New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria to attend the first in-person event in two years for the Travel Agent Achievers community.  It was a strategy and planning workshop followed by a tour of the hotel and cocktails in the Horizon Club. For many, it was their first site inspection since COVID hit. A few agents also tuned in virtually from other parts of Australia and the United States.
Organiser Roslyn Ranse, who founded Travel Agent Achievers to help travel agents run a more efficient business and more recently to battle through the pandemic, said the event had been cancelled several times due to COVID-19 restrictions but it was worth the wait to be able to meet in person.
“The vibe and the energy in the room was amazing. Getting together and getting excited about the future was what we all needed after the past two years. It has been a rough couple of years for the travel community, so it was wonderful to see our members supporting and empowering each other and walking away feeling positive and hopeful about the year ahead,” Roslyn said.
Hosted by Roslyn, the session was geared at planning for the next six months including setting business and financial goals and putting together an action plan, as well as bringing travel professionals together to talk business and focus on the future.
“Everyone put the time aside now to map out a plan and achieve what they want this year. Some attendees were so inspired they have already kicked goals including group bookings for 2022, exceeding monthly sales targets and connecting with past clients to build and strengthen relationships,” she said.
The next strategy and planning day will be held in June. For support and advice in the meantime, travel agents can join a free Travel Agent Achievers challenge starting February 14, which will feature tips on how to become more visible, including maximising social media, as the world reopens and travel begins to take off again.
