The pandemic has changed the travel dynamics for almost two years now. The industry was booming before the COVID-19 pandemic hit and now it is struggling to stay afloat.
These 20-22 months have been challenging for the travel agencies and the travellers worldwide.
Border closures, travel restrictions and social distancing rules took a toll on the world tourism industry. However, with time, things seem to get a little better and as we enter 2022. People are now finally making travel plans.
Travellers worldwide are already excited to hit their most awaited travel spots. So, hopefully 2022 will be a positive year for the tourism sector. So, as tourists make their travel plans for 2022, there are a few predicted trends that will shower the industry.
GOOD WATCH: Where are the most travellers coming from into Australia?
Personal enjoyment above the schedule: The pandemic made impromptu trips difficult. People had to plan beforehand for most things due to excessive restrictions. Thus, in 2022, more impromptu trips can be expected. And, on trips, people would like to “go with the flow” and scrap the schedule for a while.

Lavish trips: COVID-19 restricted people from travelling and partying. As recovery knocks doors, in 2022 people would like to spend extravagantly, prioritising their enjoyment. 2022 tours will be more about best-possible personal treatments. Luxurious hotels and destinations might have more demand.
Discovery on the go: After being homebound for almost two years, travellers are in the spirits of exploring and discovering. Thus, places which do not usually observe a lot of travellers could be getting more tourists in 2022. People would want to go to off the list places and experience the diverse beauty.
Adventure on the go: Life has become stagnant during the pandemic. Additionally, due to the work from home culture, everything has become mundane. Thus, in 2022, people will be looking forward to adventure activities to get over the mundaneness of life during the pandemic.
Away from social media-kinda trips: Social media consumption has drastically increased during the pandemic as social media remained the only medium to connect with friends during the lockdowns. Thus, during the 2022 trips, people would want to get some time off of social media and enjoy real time activities, making memories not for merely for Instagram posts.
