Australian Pacific Holdings (APH) the owner of Australia’s leading travel company, the APT Travel Group (ATG), has today announced some changes to the structure of its business.
Over many years APH has invested in a number of travel businesses both here and overseas. These partnerships created many opportunities for the Group to expand its product offerings, diversify distribution, and participate in new areas of the industry. In doing this, APH created a corporate division and from 2014 to now this has been led by APH Managing Director Chris Hall.
Over the last 2 years there has been much consolidation within the APH investment portfolio in order for the company to focus on its core business – the APT Travel Group and key partner AmaWaterways. With this consolidation there is now a natural conclusion to the APH Managing Director role and with some regret, Chris Hall will be leaving the business in February 2022.
After 21 years with the business and holding roles across the business including the overall ATG CEO position up until 2014, Hall leaves the Group in a solid position. Having put in place structures across the organisation, including David Cox as ATG CEO, the company is well prepared for the future growth opportunities as travel returns . The McGeary family, the APH Board and the business are ready for emergence from the pandemic.
Robert McGeary and Louise Tandy (nee McGeary) said “We have appreciated Chris Hall’s leadership, not only during these tougher pandemic times, but throughout his tenure as both MD of APH and CEO of APT. His contribution to the business has been significant and we wish Chris all the best for his future endeavours. He will always be a respected part of our travel family.”
On his 21 years with APH/ATG Chris Hall said, “On joining the company Geoff McGeary welcomed me to his family and his amazing business he termed – the Circus. I feel privileged to have experienced the amazing transformation and growth that our Group has achieved over the last 20 years and to have held such important roles to be able to deliver change, achieve success, and, despite COVID impacts, position the business for a long and sustainable future. The circus goes on and I now hand the baton over to the current team to write the next chapter.”
