After almost 20 months of stringent rules, Australia is finally reopening to the world. Australia at first reopened its borders from November 1 onwards.
However, only Aussies were allowed to travel internationally back then. Later it commenced the travel bubbles with New Zealand and Singapore. And recently it confirmed travel corridors with South Korea, Japan and India.
The travel corridor carnival
The pandemic shook the travel industry drastically. Australia closed its borders earlier in 2020 and after almost 20 months, it opened its doors to the rest of the world.
Australia is reopening its borders in the form of travel bubbles. The motif is to protect Aussies from emerging new variants. The country has performed substantially better in combating the adversities caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. And now is the time to rejuvenate the economy.
However, the spread of the new variant, Omicron is shaking the decisions. For instance, international students were initially supposed to enter Australia from December 1 onwards, which got postponed till mid-December.
GOOD WATCH: Where are the most travellers coming from into Australia?
The travel corridor with India
Australia and India will soon commence the travel corridor, which will allow vaccinated citizens of both the countries to travel across. The flight will be resumed with a number of pre-conditions to curb the transmission of the virus.
Additionally, India is also following the air travel bubble formula with several other nations. The country has currently established travel corridors with more than 30 nations and now Australia is on the list too.
Qantas has already started its flights from Sydney and New Delhi. And soon the airline will commence its flights between Melbourne and Delhi before Christmas. Air India used to have direct flights to Australia before the pandemic and the airline will soon resume its flights, according to India’s public officials.

Significance of the bubble
Australia and India are both significant to one another in terms of migrants, international students, and travellers. Both the countries offer diverse education, work, and travel opportunities. And, as Christmas is around the corner, the travel bubble between the two nations would be a shooting star.
However, everything seems unpredictable keeping in mind the effects of the new variants. Discussions regarding the need for the third dose are flowing across countries. However, scientists are yet to finalise if the third dose will be completely effective for Omicron, or some other measure will be required to win over it.
GOOD SECTION: How is Omicron affecting travel industry?
The COVID-19 pandemic has proven to be a disaster for the world travel industry. The industry was shattered with the spread of the virus, and finally agencies and airlines were hopeful of reopening as the vaccination process boosted; but the variants are not losing the noose. As 2022 stands on the doorstep, it is yet to be seen how emerging variants will play with the economies in the following months. In the meantime, travel bubbles are indeed a breath of fresh air!
