Kakadu Tourism has launched a range of special discounted cruise, accommodation and touring packages to provide even greater incentives for visitors to enjoy Kakadu National Park this tropical summer
Kakadu is at its most spectacular during tropical summer, which encompasses three Aboriginal seasons starting from October: Gungmeleng (pre-monsoon), Gudjewg (monsoon) and Bang Gereng, which arrives in March bringing clear skies to the region.
The season offers remarkably rich experiences for visitors with almost nightly light shows as thunder and lightning roll in, waterfalls are at their most dramatic, the dry land turns green, streams begin to flow, and tagged million-dollar barramundi fill the streams and billabongs.
The seventh annual Million Dollar Fish competition starts on 1 October and goes through the end of March 2022. This season there are no less than eight red-tagged million-dollar barras waiting to be hooked, along with 100 $10,000 tagged barras, many of which have been caught in the past in Kakadu’s Yellow Water Billabong. To give visitors the best possible chance to hook a cool million, Kakadu Tourism has launched a range of new packages offering discounts of up to $250 and a number of special added extras. Thery include:

Most car hire operators restrict daily mileage allowances for rentals in the NT Top End, despite long distances being involved in touring the region. This special offer can save hundreds of dollars on each holiday.
Sealed roads make most of Kakadu’s prime attractions accessible throughout the summer. Spectacular rock art can be viewed at Nourlangie, cooling swims can be enjoyed in waterholes such as Moline and Motor Car Falls, hundreds of bird species along with crocodiles and other wildlife are active on Yellow Water Billabong, and Indigenous art and culture can be experienced at Warradjan Cultural Centre, the Bowali Centre and local art galleries.
