And just like that, the Olympics are over. As a former swimmer, it’s hard to go past the success Australia had in the pool. But my most inspiring memory, will be Pat Tiernan’s efforts in the 10,000m. After keeping up with the lead pack, with 300m to go, his body could do no more. Three times he fell, but more importantly, three times he got up – to finish 19th in the Olympic final!
