Avis Australia has announced that for the third year in a row, the brand will be offering one-way rentals between Perth and Exmouth with a reduced location fee.

As many visitors won’t drive back up to Perth after reaching Exmouth, due to the distance, Avis Australia wants to help make the road trip more accessible and affordable for drivers renting vehicles, through its special offer and rental plan.

The relocation fee, additional to the standard daily car hire rates and conditions, to pick-up a vehicle at Exmouth and return it in Perth, or vice versa, currently costs $1,000. Customers will only pay a $250.00 relocation fee if hiring a car to drive from Perth to Exmouth, and $150.00 if hiring from Exmouth and dropping the vehicle back in Perth. Qantas Airlines, a mobility partner of Avis Australia, have 12 flights per week to Learmonth Airport utilising fast and comfortable F100 jets, making the return journey easy.

According to new research from Avis, the majority of Australians (86%) are planning to travel domestically this year. Western Australia still remains a popular travel destination for 1 in 10 (13%) Aussies, and with its beautiful stretches of untouched coastlines, the Coral Coast Highway has long been a must for all travel enthusiasts’ bucket lists.

While many travellers are familiar with some of the drive’s highlights, like the Pinnacles Desert of Nambung National Park and Ningaloo Reef, there are many more hidden gems to discover during this thirteen-hour road trip.

Tom Mooney, Managing Director, Pacific, Avis Budget Group, commented: “From our recent research, we know that Australians are travel hungry and that there’s significant interest for people to explore their own backyard. In fact, our research revealed that 49% of Australians who plan on travelling domestically this year say it is likely they will rent a car as part of their trip. We’re always looking for ways to enhance and improve the customer experience, so we’re excited to be able to offer this great deal to WA locals and visitors again.”

David O’Malley, Chief Executive of Australia’s Coral Coast, said: “This very welcome initiative by Avis Australia has made travel along Australia’s Coral Coast much easier and far more affordable for visitors. It has removed the distance factor that has for so long been a barrier to travelling in the region. In addition, it has allowed us to establish the Coral Coast Highway as one of Australia’s great touring routes.”
