Family groups can save almost $10,000 on a new multi-cabin offer on a tropical, tall-ship voyage from Cairns to Sydney this Christmas aboard the world’s largest and newest sailing ship, Golden Horizon.

The festive, family offer is available through Cruise Traveller – the exclusive Australian representative for new UK-based cruise line, Tradewind Voyages, which will debut the brand new, five-masted Golden Horizon in Europe this July and bring her to Australia this summer with her traditional nautical trimmings and gleaming wood and brass.

The magnificent, 272-guest Golden Horizon will sail from Cairns on December 22, 2021, for a unique and beautiful 15-night voyage south to Sydney via Townsville, the Whitsunday Islands for Christmas, Brisbane, Noosa, a memorable sail past the Gold Coast on New Year’s Eve for the fireworks and also Trial Bay and Newcastle in NSW. The history-making journey ends in Sydney on January 6, 2022, when scores of spectators are expected to flock to the harbour to witness the inaugural arrival in the harbour of the huge 162m-long sailing ship.

A 16-night package from Cruise Traveller includes a pre-cruise night in a Cairns hotel as well as beer and wine with lunch and dinner each day aboard the ship. As a festive treat, drinks will be complimentary onboard all day on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve until 1am, New Year’s Day. There will also be special and traditional gourmet Christmas and New Year feasts as well yuletide festivities for the whole family.

And to help families celebrate Christmas in unrivalled, tall ship style, Tradewind Voyages and Cruise Traveller are offering large savings when up to five cabins are booked together in the one reservation.

Fares for the 16-night package in the first cabin are available from $9530 per person, twin-share (ppts). If a second cabin is booked for family members, that cabin’s fares are reduced to $9066 ppts – a saving of $928 in the second cabin. The savings increase with the more cabins booked, with fares in a fifth cabin cut to $7673 ppts – a saving of $3714 in the fifth cabin. Over five cabins, the total savings amount to $9876 in a lead-in cabin, with the savings even bigger in higher-grade cabins. Children need to be at least nine years old aboard Golden Horizon and conditions apply to the offer, which has no booking deadline, subject to availability.

While brand new and luxurious, the graceful, square-rigged Golden Horizon retains the charm, adventure and romance of an historic ship with an onboard ambience that is intimate, relaxed and casually elegant. Committed to sustainability, the ship is powered by nature whenever possible and intends to sail, without using propulsion, for 70 per cent of the time, thanks to 6300 square metres of billowing sails, providing an authentic sailing experience.

The shop boasts a fine cuisine restaurant, three pools, gym, library, spa sanctuary, four bars and a marina platform from which complimentary waters sports equipment can be enjoyed such as pico sailboats, kayaks, windsurfers, stand up paddle boards, snorkelling gear and a floating island and trampoline for fun in the water. All 140 cabins offer ocean vistas.
