While Australian cruising is still wallowing in the dark waiting for news that hopefully, the ban on Australian government’s ban on cruising will be lifted on June 17, over in the USA, great progress is being made in the return of cruising, with Carnival Corporation last week receiving the US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention’s (CDC) acceptance of its Phase 2A Port Agreements for PortMiami, Port of Galveston and Port Canaveral.

According to a press release these are all key homeports for Carnival Cruise Line and the first three homeports that Carnival is focusing on for its return to guest operations this summer, with Lars Ljoen, executive vice president and chief maritime officer for Carnival Cruise Line saying, “These agreements move us one step closer to sailing with our loyal guests.”

He added, “We appreciate the support from not just these three homeport partners, but all of our homeports, that are eager to have us back as soon as possible.”

Carnival has already announced that Carnival Horizon, sailing from Miami and Carnival Vista and Breeze, sailing from Galveston will be the first ships to carry guests in Carnival’s July return to service, with Port Canaveral also identified as a restart priority and Carnival in a press release saying it expects to announce its plans for operations from Port Canaveral over the coming days.
