Tourism Northern Territory and NT Major Events have combined forces with TikTok and Australian pop-rock band Lime Cordiale to bring to life an iconic performance in Nitmiluk National Park.
Fresh off the back of their performance at Darwin’s BASSINTHEGRASS festival last weekend, Lime Cordiale will set up stage overlooking the iconic Nitmiluk Gorge, bringing a sunset soaked performance exclusive to TikTok from 6:30pm AEST.
Lime Cordiale will be welcomed to the make-shift stage, which has been set up at the popular Baruwei Lookout at Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge, by the Chairperson of the Jawoyn Association, Lisa Mumbin, who will give a moving Welcome to Country to start the stream.
As the sun sets, TikTok will bring together the incredible footage of Nitmiluk Gorge interspersed with Lime Cordiale’s hit songs as an exclusive performance on the platform.
Tourism NT’s Executive General Manager Marketing Tony Quarmby said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to be able to bring Lime Cordiale to the magnificent Nitmiluk Gorge and stream their performance in such a unique location exclusively on TikTok.
“The unlikely combination of the iconic location and musical performance fits in perfectly with our ‘Seek Different’ brand and allows us to reach a whole new audience on TikTok, delivering the beauty of the Northern Territory to millions of young people across Australia and New Zealand.
“This project brings together a number of priority pillars for us, including events, Aboriginal culture, nature, wildlife and adventure – showcasing the breathtaking scenery and experiences on offer when you come to the Northern Territory.“
Ollie Wards, Director of Music TikTok Australia & New Zealand said, “Lime Cordiale are one of Australia’s hottest bands right now, so to make them even hotter, we’re sending them to one of Australia’s hottest places for this unique TikTok live performance.
“TikTok LIVE gives Australia’s great artists’ opportunities to reach new audiences around the world. With Lime Cordiale playing their fun pop-rock amongst the rocks of Nitmiluk Gorge, we can’t wait to showcase the band and the NT to TikTok’s global music fans.”
Oliver Leimbach from Lime Cordiale said, “This opportunity to perform in Nitmiluk is something we don’t take for granted. This is the dream – to have music take us to places like this.
“We’ve toured all over the place but the Australian landscape is like nothing else. Huge thanks to TikTok and Tourism NT for getting us out there and to the Jawoyn people for welcoming us to their land.”
Lime Cordiale brothers Oli and Louis Leimbach made most of their trip to the Top End and following their successful performance at BASSINTHEGRASS, the duo departed Darwin and hit the road to Katherine, checking out the spectacular scenery and stopping for some unique road trip experiences along the way.
From Edith Falls to Nitmiluk Gorge, Katherine Hot Springs and the lively Territory café culture, the Leimbach brothers got the chance to see the NT in all its glory.
The 2021 BASSINTHEGRASS festival saw herds of tourists flock to the Northern Territory, with local businesses and operators reaping the benefits.
Tim Watsford, NT Major Events CEO said, “BASSINTHEGRASS 2021 was the Territory’s biggest music event ever, and saw an incredible line-up of top Aussie talent take to the stage in Darwin.
“That included Lime Cordiale, one of the most popular acts around after placing five songs in Triple J’s Hottest 100 for 2020.
“They put on an unforgettable show at BASSINTHEGRASS and, thanks to our partnership with Tourism NT, they’ve now taken some of that BASSINTHEGRASS magic on the road all the way to Nitmiluk.”
Lime Cordiale’s epic performance tonight is sure to put the Northern Territory on show, unlocking a whole new audience of potential travelers via TikTok, giving the holiday destination a much-needed boost at a crucial time for domestic tourism.
The Northern Territory’s majestic Nitmiluk Gorge is a renowned visitor attraction in the Top End, with raging waterfalls, a myriad of wildlife, and breathtaking views of the Jawoyn country, the 13 impressive sandstone gorges can be explored by boat, foot, canoe, or helicopter.
