Captain Cook Cruises has partnered with NSW wine giant, Tyrrell’s, to create a Sydney Solstice culinary experience to warm the soul. Fire, light, food and wine are the four ingredients in Captain Cook Cruises’ line up. The Sydney Solstice Gold Lunch and the Sydney Solstice Sunset Dinner will run for 6 days, between 11 and 20 June 2021.
Winter on Sydney Harbour is gearing up to be the most exciting in decades, starting with the new Sydney Solstice festival from 8 to 20 June 2021. When the sun shines brightly but the Winter air is cool and crisp, the body gains its warmth from great food and wine.
The Sydney Solstice Gold Lunch combines the spectacular backdrop of Sydney Harbour by day with a gourmet 4-course degustation menu paired with an impressive selection of Tyrrell’s wines. Guests are welcomed on board super-cruiser `Sydney 2000′, with a sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir Brut and the Chef’s personal section of petite canapés. Creamy seared scallops in a lime foam follow, paired with a crisp Hunter Valley Semillon. For main-course, it’s the Chef’s speciality – the mouth-watering Angus centre-cut eye fillet, accompanied by the rich, soft tones of the Lunatiq Shiraz. Dessert can make and break a great menu, which is why the black-violet cheesecake was chosen to pair with a perennial Winter favourite, the Special Aged Tawny Port.
Fire and light combine on the Sydney Solstice Sunset Dinner departing at 5.00pm, just as the sun sets. It’s the perfect time in Winter to experience a dazzling Sydney Harbour panorama. The most spectacular sunsets happen in the cooler months, when the sky explodes in a kaleidoscope of colours from gentle hues of pink and violet to vibrant reds and orange. Great viewing windows allow guests to take in the vista from every table, and all while enjoying a superb 3-course menu. Disembark at 7.00pm for a short 10-minute stroll along the foreshore to Cockle Bay to experience the mesmerising pyrotechnics of `LuminoSydney’, the Darling Harbour Solstice fireworks spectacular at 7.30pm.
On the Ocean Deck of Sydney 2000, a mysterious `Fire & Light’ cocktail will feature on the Harbour Bar & Restaurant cocktail menu during the Sydney Solstice festival. The onboard mixologist is keeping the recipe a closely guarded secret as magicians never reveal their secrets.
Both the Sydney Solstice Gold Lunch and Sunset Dinner depart Friday to Sunday between 11 and 20 June 2021. With only six departures for each cruise available, guests are encouraged to book quickly to avoid disappointment.
