Honey Health
COMO Castello Del Nero has five hives on its sprawling estate. Dedicated beekeepers harvest honey to use in numerous dishes, including the popular COMO Shambhala ginger tea. Not only is honey nature’s oldest sweetener, but it has many practical applications. Read COMO’s Honey Health Guide.

A New Vintage; Wine Making Experience at the Estate Vineyard, Bosco Al Rocci
The 2019 grape harvest is currently being vinified in oak barrels and steel tanks, to be bottled in the upcoming summer months. The COMO Castello Del Nero wine is an intense red with notes of cherry – pairing beautifully with most Tuscan dishes. Guests can participate in a wine making experience from September 15th – October 15th, 2021. The experience starts with handpicking plump grapes from the vineyard before pressing out wine with bare feet. End with a relaxing picnic of fresh Italian produce and wine, overlooking the vineyards.

L’Eroica Bike Race
The L’Eroica bike race first began in Gaiole in Chianti in 1997 – a village not far from COMO Castello Del Nero. Taking place on the first Sunday in October, cyclists on vintage bikes in vintage gear pedal along the gravel roads for distances of up 209km – celebrating a more traditional, sustainable way of cycling. The race is now a global movement, with multiple events taking place around the world. Still, the best place to experience it is in the town it was born. This year, the race is taking place on October 3rd 2021 and guests of COMO Castello Del Nero can either take part in the rice or choose to watch the event.

Hot Air Ballooning Experience
There’s nothing quite like watching the sun rise over the Tuscan countryside from mid-air. Working with a local balloonist, COMO Castello Del Nero can take guests high above the Tuscan hills, its medieval crenellated towers and rural villages. Hot air balloons lift off early in a field only a five-minute drive away from the estate, where the team from Idea Balloon will prepare a balloon for a one-hour flight with aerial views of the rolling greenery and COMO Castello Del Nero itself. After spectating the sunrise, enjoy a locally sourced breakfast accompanied by spumante (sparkling wine).
This experiences is 3 ½ hours and costs €320 per person.

Tuscan Truffle Hunting Experience
Spend a few hours with professional truffle hunter Francesco and his loyal Lagotto Romagnolo dogs – who will hunt for truffles around the estate. The woods at COMO Castello Del Nero are home to three types of black truffles: winter, hooked and summer. After a morning of truffle hunting, return to the hotel for a special four-course lunch, or dinner, prepared by our Executive Chef, Giovanni Luca di Pirro, who favours these prized mushrooms in both pasta and meat courses. Enjoy lunch at either La Taverna in the heart of the castle, or Pavilion — the al fresco restaurant overlooking the Chianti hills. Alternatively, dine in the evening when your truffle dinner can be served at the Michelin-starred restaurant, La Torre.
