It’s hard to believe this week marks a year since the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic.
In this moment of reflection, we thank you for the tremendous support you provided us during the most challenging year of our history. As a proud 95-year-old company, we’ve experienced challenges before – but never a year like the one we have all just been through.
From the beginning, Delta’s focus has been on putting people – and your safety and the safety of our employees – first. And that commitment has not wavered and never will.
Your notes of appreciation for the care and service you received from Delta employees have made a difference. Messages like, “Hang in there, Delta. I miss you. I’m going to be back soon,” and notes from customers declining refunds and instead of saying, “I’ll take an eCredit. I’m coming back to you,” really moved us.
These heartfelt messages continue to motivate us and give us the strength to fight hard to get to the other side. As we recover, we hope to be more resilient and more appreciative of the life around us and the meaningful work we all do for each other.
There are still challenges ahead, but I remain incredibly hopeful and expect 2021 will be a year of reconnection with the people and places we love as vaccinations continue and our world safely reopens.
On behalf of Delta’s 75,000 employees, thank you. To those of you who travelled with us during the pandemic, thank you for trusting us. To those of you who are planning a trip, thank you for considering us. To those of you who are unsure when you will travel but continue to connect with us, thank you for your support.
Your loyalty has meant more to all of us in the past year than you will ever know – thank you again for sticking with us. We can’t wait to serve you again soon.
Sincerely,
Ed Bastian
CEO DELTA Airlines

I also, got this note from Ed yesterday: Thing Is, Ed’s letter more than likely went to another 750,000 other folks as well, BUT, the note spoke to me of support, and hope, and belonging. Nice Work. I’ve noticed it before: DELTA’s CEO, Ed Bastian has a way of drawing me in, making ‘us’ feel, the guy has been listening all-along. He’s been chatting with the entire bunch… Roger Dow, President of U.S.Travel has the same talent for making his audiences feel like we’re chatting over a pint, or sitting in the Living Room.
I for One, can hardly wait until the International boarding ramps are again open, but in the meantime… I’m making plenty of travel plans. I look forward to the next time I read the note from “Ed” in his ‘SKYWAYS’ Magazine. In the event you didn’t get his note, I’m sharing mine…
