With the domestic fare battle intensifying, and with only losers and no winners, at least for the operators of domestic airlines in Australia, although of course consumers will benefit at least for now, romantic Virgin Australia launched a $69 Valentine’s Day sale, saying the promotion is to get travellers in-the-mood to explore Australia from the Whitsunday Coast to Launceston.

Virgin Australia says that with some of the country’s most romantic destinations on sale for less than the cost of a dozen long stemmed roses [mmm, they are $50 here so maybe they are quoting CBD prices!] and with baggage, seat selection and double Velocity Frequent Flyer Points, they say that these fares will leave travellers feelin’ really good

The one one-way economy fares are from $69 when a minimum of two seats are booked in the same reservation include:

  • Sydney-Ballina Byron and Ballina Byron-Sydney
  • Sydney-Coffs Harbour and Coffs Harbour-Sydney
  • Sydney-Gold Coast and Gold Coast-Sydney
  • Melbourne-Launceston and Launceston-Melbourne
  • Melbourne-Newcastle and Newcastle-Melbourne
  • Melbourne-Hobart and Hobart-Melbourne
  • Adelaide-Melbourne and Melbourne-Adelaide
  • Brisbane-Sydney and Sydney-Brisbane
  • Brisbane-Whitsunday Coast and Whitsunday Coast-Brisbane

Virgin Australia’s 48-hour Say ‘I Do’ to Valentine’s Day sale started at 12.01am AEST Sunday 14 November 2021 until midnight AEST Monday 15 November 2021, or until sold out, with fares available to book directly at: https://specials.virginaustralia.com/au for select travel dates and destinations from 1 May 2021 until 23 June 2021, with once again Virgin Australia failing to say if these fares are also available from travel agents – come on Virign Australia!

Virign Australia says that Velocity Frequent Flyer members will earn double points on eligible Virgin Australia flights booked by 17 February 2021, when they activate the offer on the website or through the Velocity app, and travel by 5 January 2022 and for COVID-19 booking flexibility Virgin Australia is waiving applicable change fees and providing customers with unlimited booking changes for reservations made by 30 April 2021, with travel to 31 January 2022.
