At American Airlines, our purpose is to care for people on life’s journey — and that extends to our team members, customers and the communities we serve across our global network. This Giving Tuesday, American joins forces with its national nonprofit partners for an opportunity to donate AAdvantage® miles to those who need it most.
“In these difficult times, it’s more important than ever we do our part to care for those in need,” said Ron DeFeo, American’s Senior Vice President of Global Engagement. “Each giving season we are inspired by the generosity of our customers and colleagues, and this year more than ever, every mile makes a difference. We’re humbled by the magnitude of our combined potential to make an even greater impact together.”
Donate AAdvantage miles to American’s partner organizations
On Giving Tuesday, American is encouraging customers and team members to donate AAdvantage miles to important causes the airline supports through its three giving pillars:
Miles for Social Good
Support organizations — like UNICEF, American Red Cross, and Feeding America — that are committed to improving stability, fighting hunger and providing basic needs or immediate relief to global citizens in need.
Miles for Global Health and Well-being
Donate miles to organizations — like Stand Up to Cancer, Make-a-Wish, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital — that are dedicated to raising awareness and funds to bring treatments and hope to patients.
Miles for Our Heroes
Gift miles to organizations — like the Gary Sinise Foundation, Medal of Honor Foundation, and George W. Bush Institute — that work to support veterans, military members and their families.
Additionally, American’s team members can donate for the first time this year to the airline’s national nonprofit partners through its workplace giving program.

Support the American Airlines Family Fund
As part of its Giving Tuesday efforts, American is promoting the American Airlines Family Fund — an organization that helps team members who are facing financial hardship after unexpected life events. Through the American Airlines Family Fund, the airline takes care of its team members immediately after a natural disaster or an unforeseen catastrophic situation that threatens their health and welfare.
Already this year, the Family Fund has awarded $400,000 in grants to support hundreds of team members and their families with emergency assistance, including funeral costs, home fires, flooding, natural disasters and more.
