As autumn (Koyo) starts to wane in Japan, Master Chef Shigeru Hagiwara and his team at The Okura Prestige Bangkok’s Michelin Plate signature Japanese restaurant Yamazato celebrate with special Gozen lunch platters and a wonderful multi-course Kaiseki dinner featuring seasonal ingredients such as mackerel, saury and capelin fish, chestnuts and persimmons.
Two Gozen lunch platters include traditionally prepared soups, sashimi, tempura, grilled and simmered dishes featuring premium seafood and late autumn ingredients. The first platter offers a starter of grilled persimmon with shrimp, octopus and maitake mushroom, and a soup of mackerel with shimeji mushroom. The second features a simmered dish of minced saury fish ball, leek, shiitake mushroom, carrot, daikon and ginger, and a tempura selection of shrimp, capelins, eggplant, sweet potato and Japanese green pepper.
On the late autumn Kaiseki dinner menu are offerings such as a starter of shrimp and sake-steamed scallop with pickles daikon, maitake mushroom and broad beans with balsamic vinegar sauce, and a fabulous grilled dish of Spanish mackerel with chestnuts miso mayonnaise and beef teriyaki garnished with Japanese green pepper. Also seasonal is a simmered offering of autumn mackerel with miso, konjac, daikon radish, carrot and shiitake mushroom. The meal ends with traditional Japanese chestnut pudding with sweet red beans and matcha sauce.
The Late Autumn Gozen lunch and Kaiseki dinner at Yamazato runs from 1 – 22 November 2020, lunch: 11:30 – 14:30, dinner: 18:00 – 22:30. Priced at Baht 1,600++ for Gozen lunch and Baht 4,700++ for Kaiseki dinner.
