Spread the love

IKEA is launching a plant ball for meat lovers? That’s right! It has the look, taste, and juicy bite of the IKEA meatball, but only 4% of its climate footprint. Committed to becoming climate-positive by 2030, IKEA is introducing the new plant ball as a great alternative to the 1 billion IKEA meatballs sold at IKEA every year, inviting meat-lovers to create a more sustainable lifestyle together.

Made with pea protein, potatoes, onions, oats and apples, the IKEA plant ball has the great taste and texture of the IKEA meatball – minus the meat. The perfect meaty taste is achieved by adding umami flavours with mushrooms, tomatoes, and a powder from roasted vegetables. Starting from 1 October, IKEA will be launching the plant balls with mashed potatoes, green peas, lingonberry jam and cream sauce (HKD23/8 pcs/ MOP23/8 pcs) at all IKEA restaurants in Hong Kong and Macau – the sweet and sour lingonberry jam and the rich creamy sauce is the most popular combination with meatball in Swedish culture. Starting from 1 October, customers can also purchase the frozen plant ball together with their preferred sauce at the Swedish Food Market to prepare a hearty plant ball meal for their loved ones.

Swedish Food Market Special

Throughout the month of October, customers can also enjoy a variety of creative dishes at all IKEA restaurants, from a flavourful roasted pork rack with caramelized apple and herb roasted pumpkin (HKD59/ MOP69) to a Japanese-inspired grilled eel with Japanese fried rice (HKD49/ MOP56), and a light and healthy honey ham, egg and potato salad (HKD36/ MOP36). Don’t miss out on the delicious snacks available at IKEA Bistro: mini lasagne (HKD10/3 pcs/ MOP12/3 pcs) and the very Instagrammable Halloween special bamboo charcoal jumbo hot dog with chicken bolognaise & cheese (HKD16/ MOP16).
