The founders of leading eco-tourism company Majestic Whale Encounters are thrilled to announce the release of their first children’s book, Nellie the Narwhal.
Written for children aged 3+, Nellie the Narwhal is a great first introduction to whales and a variety of underwater creatures, whilst telling a delightful story of how a lonely narwhal learns how to play with other animals, despite their differences.
Nellie the Narwhal follows young Nellie, a narwhal, as she unsuccessfully attempts to play with different animals in her ocean home, before discovering that their differences aren’t a reason not to play together – and that being different can be fun. The book also includes a section of activities and interactive questions for children to participate in with caregivers to add to the learning possible via the story.
A labour of love, the book has been in development in the background by Majestic Whale Encounters’ Founders Carmen Ellis and Sarah Cullen for the last year, whilst running their international whale swimming travel business took priority. It is an ironic twist of fate that has led to the book’s release taking place when their travel company has been stymied by the international pandemic. Co-author Sarah Cullen admits that whilst they – like everyone – had no idea how different their travel business would look in 2020 – the release of the book has inspired a new range of trips for the company.
“We get a lot of enquiries from families who want to bring their children on our whale swims,” she says, “And since our international trips aren’t going to be possible for at least the rest of this year, we’ve been inspired to launch a full suite of family friendly, domestic experiences. Our first family-friendly trip will take place to Kangaroo Island early next year.”
Nellie the Narwhal is the first book in a planned ocean themed series for children, and is available now from Amazon and directly from their website www.nelliethenarwhal.com
RRP: $19.95 hardcover and $14.95 soft cover.
