The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) continues to lobby State Premiers and Chief Ministers as well as State, Territory and Federal Tourism Ministers to promote the importance of booking through travel agents.
With restrictions on travel within and across State and Territory borders slowly lifting, AFTA is asking State, Territory and Federal Leaders to take this very easy and powerful step which will greatly assist travel agencies.
AFTA has again this week been in communication with Premiers, Chief Ministers, and Ministers responsible for Tourism seeking their commitment to this small but important support measure.
AFTA has been working closely with Government at a state, territory and federal level since the start of the pandemic to:
- Highlight the economic hit travel agents have taken, the problems agents are facing and the unique situation agents are in;
- Reinforce the critical importance of travel agents to the tourism sector and the Australian economy;
- Push for Government support including financial.
AFTA has produced a number of detailed submissions to Federal Treasury in partnership with KPMG as part of this ongoing lobbying.
