QT Hotels & Resorts today announced that QT Auckland will launch later this year, opening in the fourth quarter of 2020.
Construction of QT Auckland has resumed, with the former Viaduct Harbour office building being converted to a 150-room hotel. The transformation will result in a new hub of quirky luxury, with a signature dining concept by internationally-renowned chef Sean Connolly, rooftop bar with sweeping water views and high-tech conferencing and event spaces.
“QT Auckland is on track to open its doors later this year, despite the unprecedented challenges presented by COVID-19. While we took a brief pause in construction, development is now well underway to bring QT’s bold and creatively-charged hospitality to Viaduct Harbour in 2020 as planned,” said Simon White, General Manager Operations New Zealand – EVENT Hotels & Resorts.
QT Auckland is being developed in partnership with Russell Property Group and Lockwood Property Group.
“While we continue work to bring QT Auckland to life, the safety and wellbeing of our teams remains our number one priority. Dominion Interiors resumed construction at Alert Level 3, with teams adhering to Ministry of Health guidelines with robust systems in place for distancing, cleaning and contact tracing. We’re excited by the progress of this project and the liveliness QT will bring to Auckland later this year,” said Brett Russell, Managing Director – Russell Property Group.
Expected to bring a renewed vibrancy to Viaduct Harbour in a year marked by unparalleled adversity, QT Auckland will be a bright spot in the city’s recovery. While the details of designer Nic Graham’s plans are still under wraps, QT Auckland promises an escape that reflects its harbourside locale. Its design and signature service will be intrinsically connected to the creative fabric of the local community, with partnerships and alignments in arts, music and fashion.
Located at 4 Viaduct Harbour Avenue, QT Auckland will be the tenth QT Hotel and the third in New Zealand, joining the much-loved QT Wellington and QT Queenstown.
