Rockpool Dining Group is bringing Beerhaüs to Barangaroo’s dining and entertainment precinct, where the super-charged, beer-centric, social emporium opens on Friday, 4 October at 12pm, serving a combination of American-inspired and German-influenced, beer-friendly food.

Located on Scotch Row, just minutes from the water, Beerhaüs Barangaroo is 600 square-metres and 300-seats of social-house fun, with a spectacular, wrap-around, outdoor seating area accommodating around 100 guests. A 40-tap
line-up of Australian, German, American and other international beers is headlined by local brewing legend, Pirate Life.

Opening just in time for the long weekend, the interactive space reverberates with a busy schedule of games, including shuffleboard, ping pong, pinball, giant Jenga and Connect Four, Skee Ball, cornhole and a media wall of TVs offering
real-time sports and entertainment viewing.

Pirate Life brew masters will be on site on Saturday, 5 October to Sunday, 6 October from 12pm to 3pm hosting beer tastings and discussing brewing techniques and recipe development. The iconic brewers will host masterclasses every Tuesday thereafter from 3pm. Weekly free barber sessions – yes, come and get your hair clipped and beards trimmed, dudes – and live art activations with artists painting guests, will alternate every Saturday between 1pm and 3pm.

Rockpool Dining Group Chief Executive Officer Thomas Pash said Beerhaüs is a casual hang-out where modern-day millennials, families and groups can connect socially and enjoy an affordable food, drinks and entertainment package.

“We’ve built an extraordinary, value-packed, dining and entertainment experience around great, beer-friendly food,” Mr Pash said. “Guests can come for lunch or dinner, stay for the fun and games and enjoy an unrivalled line-up of amazing beers and trend-setting drinks.”

Beerhaüs has forged a partnership with craft brewer Pirate Life, which brings a tap room to the Barangaroo site. The tap room, or dedicated section of the bar, features 12 Pirate Life beers, including exclusive brews for Beerhaüs, such as Barangaroo Desert Lime Ale and special releases, including Acai and Passionfruit Sour and Burton Co-Lab Frontside Ale.

More local brews by 4 Pines Brewing Company sit alongside Aussie classics Victoria Bitter and Melbourne Bitter. German stalwarts Löwenbräu, Paulaner, Franziskaner, Spaten and Hofbräu are also on tap, alongside prized Belgian brews by Hoegaarden, Leffe and Stella Artois and American bellwethers Budweiser and Goose Island.

Guests can also explore an innovative menu of boilermakers – a beer paired with a whisky – such as Lagavulin Beach, which pairs Lagavulin 16-year old single malt with Pirate Life Tropical IIPA; cocktails such as Jack’s Iced Tea, which features Jack Daniels, peach schnapps, black tea and lemon juice; and shooters, including Fat Elvis – a mix of Frangelico, Crème De Bananas and Gold Chocolate Liqueur. Beer-tasting paddles are themed around dark beers, fresh and fruity ales, German brews and IPAs. A schnapps list includes a boutique and unique range from family-owned Snowy Mountains distillery, Wildbrumby, as well as quintessential German brands.

The food focus is two-fold: American-style and classic Bavarian. Guests can chart an American course with slow-cooked, peach wood-smoked BBQ meats such as beef brisket, pulled pork and half chicken.

Buffalo wings and boneless wings come in servings of 10, 20, 50 or 100 pieces, with one of eight accompanying hot sauces: teriyaki, traditional, Texas BBQ, Korean, chipotle, habanero, afterburner, and the hottest sauce of all – face melting. Sauces are rated by up to four flame symbols, which denote the spiciness of each. All wings have a choice of six dips: blue cheese, ranch dressing, haus sauce, chipotle mayo, garlic, and honey and mustard.

Burgers include ChookHaüs, showcasing secret-spiced chicken breast with habanero hot sauce, cheese, coleslaw, pickles and Texas BBQ sauce; MooHaüs Angus beef burger with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and secret sauce, and DoubleHaüs with two Angus beef patties. There are also loaded potato skins, fries, sloppy fries and waffle fries loaded with cheddar cheese, bacon, sour cream and jalapeno.

Alternatively, guests can refuel with Bavarian classic dishes such pretzels, crackling pork belly, crispy pork knuckle and five chicken and pork schnitzels, including the American-Bavarian loaded schnitzel known at the Texan, topped with fries, chilli con carne, cheese and onion jus.

Rockpool Dining Group Beverage Director Ali Toghani said: “As with the rise in craft beers, I expect we will see a renaissance in boilermakers, which originated in America, and if crafted thoughtfully and enjoyed sipping-style each whisky and beer should complement the other and create a fabulous, new experience for the guest.”

Deliciousness is dialed-up daily with a $5 happy hour from 4pm to 6pm, including free Royal Snacks. All-day deals include 10-cent chicken wings on Mondays, two-for-one schnitzels on Tuesdays and $35 All You Can Meat platters on Wednesdays. The Brew Mates loyalty program rewards participants with 50 percent off the bill on Mondays and other special deals.
