London calling for savvy Adelaide travellers

KAYAK.com.au has revealed that shorter flights aren’t necessarily the most cost-effective, with London topping the list as the cheapest option from Adelaide. Despite being more than 16,000km in travel, the cost of travel is less than 10 cents per kilometre (0.09¢/km). Much to the delight of Adelaide travellers, Los Angeles also appears on the list at a mere 0.10¢ per kilometre, followed by Delhi (0.10¢ per kilometre) and Bangkok (0.12¢ per kilometre).

New Zealand tops the list for savvy Sydneysiders and cost-conscious Melbournians

New Zealand destinations dominate the list for Sydney and Melbuourne travellers, with Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown and Wellington all appearing as the most cost-effective flight routes from Australia’s biggest capital hubs. For those looking for a short-haul flight that won’t break the budget, flights from Sydney to Auckland average 0.17¢ per kilometre whilst Melbourne to Christchurch works out to 0.16¢ per kilometre.

Perth’s love-affair with Asia continues to trump domestic locations

Travellers departing from Perth can get a better bang for their buck travelling to Kuala Lumpur (0.09¢ per kilometre), Bangkok (0.12¢ per kilometre) and Phuket (0.12¢ per kilometre) than they can to Australia’s Eastern coast. [Sydney (0.16¢ per kilometre), Brisbane (0.17¢ per kilometre) and Melbourne (0.18¢ per kilometre)].

Bali bliss for thrifty Brisbane travellers

For Brisbane-based departures, Bali tops the list at just 0.13¢ per kilometre, perfect for those looking for a beach getaway that isn’t too far away. For travellers looking for an non-Bali beach holiday that still offers great value for money, Nan Nakhon in Thailand comes in at 0.23¢ per kilometre.
