Resort representation agency, World Resorts of Distinction (WRD), has picked up the account for luxury resort, Vakkaru Maldives, and will oversee the sales, marketing and PR for the five-star property in the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Commenting on the new partnership, WRD Resort Marketing Manager Narelle Christoffersen-Langton said Vakkaru is a valued addition to the company’s portfolio.

“We are beyond excited to join forces with this prestigious property and look forward to deservedly growing the Vakkaru name,” she said. “The resort’s focus on robust, experiential service and environmental and social responsibility makes it a great fit with our existing spread of likeminded clients.”

“Vakkaru boasts a superlative range of accommodation options,” Narelle explained. “Guests can choose between various beach and over-water villa categories with direct access to either a white sand beach or the lagoon; or a magnificent Four Bedroom Over Water Pool Residence is a decadent sanctuary with direct, uninterrupted views of the sunset.”

Opened in December 2017, Vakkaru is a luxury resort located in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of the Baa Atoll and offers discerning travellers a unique holiday characterised by barefoot elegance and timeless experiences. Vakkaru is a sanctuary designed for guests to disconnect from reality and reconnect to each other. Guests experiences are not affected by time, allowing everyone to indulge in an unassuming luxury experience limitlessly and effortlessly from the moment they step onto the island.

“Vakkaru island is fortuitously situated within an infinity-shaped lagoon with three deep blue holes and an impressive house reef, so it’s an unparalleled choice for travellers who like to dive, snorkel, and try new experiences,” Narelle explained. “In fact, one of our favourite offerings at the resort is a young divers introductory program, which allows children as young as eight to explore the underwater wonderland surrounding the island.”

“While we’re talking about key selling points, it would be remiss of me not to mention the epic selection of dining outlets at Vakkaru,” she continued. “In addition to bespoke, private dining options on request, guests can choose between four different culinary experiences – Italian, Asian, a luxury grill, a live cooking station – two bars and a wine cellar.”

In terms of reducing its impact on the local environment, Vakkaru is committed to developing a sustainable business through various green initiatives including: sustainable purchasing of locally-sourced seafood; onsite water treatment technology to produce clean water including still and sparkling drinking water with reusable glass bottles; waste management program; and a reef cleaning and coral plantation program.

Vakkaru is the fourth resort WRD has welcomed to their conscious portfolio since CEO Tess Willcox took over as sole owner of the company in July last year.
