It is now easier for tourists and travel agents to get the latest information about one of the most exciting, up and coming travel destinations, with the official opening of New Zealand’s first Taiwan Tourism Information Center.
Taiwan is increasingly becoming a popular destination for New Zealanders. From the bustling night markets scattered throughout the capital Taipei, to the national parks with their soaring mountains and vast forests to the more off-the-beaten-track areas including Taiwan’s islands – there’s plenty to explore for tourists who want a unique and diverse travel experience. And what’s more, New Zealanders don’t need a visa to get there.
Last year, more than 11 million people worldwide visited Taiwan, setting a new record. In April New Zealanders have been increase 48 percent compare to same time last year for Kiwis heading there, boosted by Air New Zealand resuming direct flights between Auckland and Taipei last November.
“The growth in the number of tourists is an indispensable part of the bilateral relationship between Taiwan and New Zealand. The resumed direct flights between Auckland and Taiwan, bring a significant saving in travel times, making Taiwan an even more attractive destination. It’s seeing more New Zealanders taking home unforgettable memories of Taiwan’s food, culture, landscapes and natural beauty” says a Taiwan Tourism Bureau Dr Trust Lin. So there’s never been a greater need for a facility like the Taiwan Tourism Information Center in Auckland.
This week’s opening of the center was hosted by Dr Trust H.J. Lin, the Director of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau of New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, India and Middle East. Celebrity chef Mark Southon from “The Café” TV was the master of ceremonies and Taiwan was shown off with the “Tour Taiwan Photo Exhibition” by renowned photographer Carmen Bird.
As well as helping travellers to get the best out of their time in Taiwan, the Taiwan Tourism Information Center will help to strengthen the bilateral friendship ties between New Zealand and Taiwan, including cultural, art and food. The links will continue with Taiwan Tourism taking part in the Auckland Food Festival Exhibition on July 19th and attending the World Tourism Expo in March next year.
