The world’s largest and newest sailing ship, Golden Horizon, will make her debut in the UK on July 1, 2021, and visit Australia this summer, with bookings so strong that new UK-based cruise line, Tradewind Voyages, has launched her 2022/23 program which will see a return of the huge tall ship to Australian waters.

Now on sale through Australian small ship cruise specialist, Cruise Traveller, the new 2022/23 program for Golden Horizon includes 23 new voyages sailing from April 2022 to February 2023, including six tall ship adventures in Australia and New Zealand in the summer of 2022/23 and another five South Pacific cruises that will interest Australians. The new program will see the five-masted, 272-guest ship call at 20 countries for the first time, including New Zealand, Fiji, Tahiti, Japan, USA, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala and Peru.

As the exclusive Australian representative for Tradewind Voyages, Cruise Traveller has received very strong bookings for Golden Horizon’s maiden season in Australia, with some local sailings more than 60 per cent sold. Modern-day seafarers have been captivated by the sailing ship’s unique fusion of romance, heritage, modern luxury and sustainability, with plans for the ship to travel under the sole power of wind for 70 per cent of the time, thanks to 36 billowing sails covering a massive 6300 square metres.

Cruise Traveller Managing Director, Craig Bowen, said Golden Horizon’s first 2021/22 season had received “extremely pleasing” support from Australian consumers and travel agents, with the exciting, new 2022/23 season offering more opportunities to travel aboard and sell the popular ship.

“Golden Horizon is very much a ship for current times,” Mr Bowen said. “As a sailing ship harnessing the power of nature, she offers qualities more travellers are now seeking – freedom, space, fresh air, authenticity, exclusivity, eco-sustainability and personal service as well as the advantage of accessing smaller, more remote ports and sailing closer to scenery and wildlife. “We expect her encore 2022/23 season in Australia to be even more popular than her first season as excitement builds for her inaugural arrival in our waters this December. To secure the best cabins, early bookings are recommended.”

Golden Horizon’s 2022/23 season includes voyages through Asia, Alaska and North, South and Central America. In October and November, 2022, the striking, 162m-long ship will offer five South Pacific itineraries focusing on remote Easter Island and Pitcairn Island as well as Tahiti and Fiji.

There are six voyages from six to 17 nights now on sale in Australian and New Zealand waters sailing between November, 2022, and February, 2023, including a sailing from Fiji to Australia, two East Coast journeys, two voyages between Australia and New Zealand and a NZ-only itinerary.

Fares start at A$2895 per person, twin-share, for a seven-night voyage from Auckland to Sydney in January, 2023. Fares include beer and wine with lunch and dinner aboard the ship, onboard gratuities and use of the ship’s extensive water sports equipment including water skis, pico sailboats, kayaks, windsurfers, stand up paddle boards, snorkelling gear and a floating island and trampoline for fun in the water off the ship’s marina platform.

Graceful, spacious and traditional in style, Golden Horizon is a modern, luxurious and eco-friendly sailing ship offering a relaxed but elegant ambience, fine cuisine restaurant, three pools, gym, library, spa sanctuary, four bars and a marina platform. All 140 cabins will offer ocean vistas.
