TUI BLUE Berawa introduces HONO, a social listening lounge where good records, good food and the people in the room set the pace. Built around the intimate feeling of a vinyl lounge and the ease of a jam session, HONO is made for listening properly without losing the pleasure of conversation. The sound is present, but never overbearing. Loud enough to really hear. Quiet enough to still talk.
The name HONO holds a few meanings close. It draws from honō, the Japanese word for a soft ember, hono, meaning connection in Polynesian, and the Hawaiian idea of sanctuary or a safe place. Together, they speak to what HONO is: a warm and social room with a little soul, where guests can arrive for a coffee, find themselves staying for lunch, then decide there is no reason to leave before the night is through.

Vinyl sits at the centre of the experience, with cassette and CD also part of the mix. The music moves freely between jazz, Bossa, soul, folk and funk, changing with the hour rather than following one fixed genre. In the morning, HONO begins slowly, with coffee, breakfast and the softer sounds of jazz and Bossa. By midday, soul and folk carry through all-day dining. Golden hour brings aperitivo and warm funk, before the room settles into its night rhythm of cocktails, vinyl, jazz and selected live sessions.
The food and drinks follow the same progression. The cocktail list is structured like a record, beginning with an Intro of crisp, lower-ABV serves such as the Sencha Sour and Earl Grey Highball. The Chorus finds its balance with the Mezcal Sour and Cherry & Scotch, while the Bridge brings a little more smoke and depth through the Smoked Negroni and Raisin & Port. By the Coda, the drinks are richer and more spirit-forward, including the Coconut Old Fashioned, Coffee & Whisky and Pineapple Negroni. It is a list that changes its character as the day goes on, from something easy while settling into a record to a drink that holds its own late into the evening.
The kitchen works in the same key. All-day breakfast gives way to lighter plates and food made for sharing, before moving into more substantial dishes, pizza and desserts. It is food for the way people gather: something on the table alongside a bottle, a long lunch that runs on, or dinner after a few songs have already played. There is no need to rush the evening along.
HONO is not only a place to listen. It is a place to take part. Guests are welcome to bring in records from their own collections, request a song, join a sing-along or step into selected jam sessions. Regular programming will include vinyl-led Selector Nights, Bring Your Own Vinyl sessions, HONO Invites collaborations with local music and creative communities, Board Game Afternoons and the special Saturday Jazz and Breakfast with live piano and guitar, twice a month on Saturdays from 08.00 to 10.00.
Every Friday, guitar and saxophone play from 17.00 to 19.00 before Vinyl DJ sessions continues. On selected evenings, musicians and DJs will play together, allowing the music to move beyond the room and into the outdoor space. The result is less about performance as a spectacle and more about the feeling of being close to something unfolding in real time.
Open to the public as well as hotel guests, HONO is intended to become its own social and music destination in Berawa. The lounge also operates as a bottle club, allowing guests to bring and open their own bottles with corkage applicable.
HONO is for settling in, not passing through. Come for the record you know, stay for the one you did not expect. Bring a favourite from home, make a request, order another round, or simply find your place in the room. From first coffee to last song, you can always stay for one more side.
