TORIKIZOKU was founded in Osaka in 1986 by chef Tadashi Okura. Meaning “to treat guests like royalty”, the brand rapidly became a household name in izakaya hospitality. Over four decades, it has remained devoted to flavour craftsmanship – its signature slow‑simmered tare sauce is a timeless hallmark blending chicken broth, vegetables and fruits. Its ethos of opening in value‑driven districts, offering semi-private dining areas, self-service ordering, and a simple, affordable pricing strategy has spurred remarkable growth. Balancing tradition with innovation, the chain ensures consistent quality across its now 600-plus directly managed and franchised branches in Japan, practising trusted sourcing and building close producer partnerships.

The brand debuted in Hong Kong in 2024 and, in just two years, has captured the hearts of Japanese food lovers. Beyond the new Mong Kok branch – its sixth in the city – TORIKIZOKU Hong Kong will open in Tsim Sha Tsui and Tin Shui Wai in September 2026, and Whampoa in October 2026, steadily expanding its footprint to bring authentic yakitori flavours to diners throughout Hong Kong.

Value for money has always been at the heart of TORIKIZOKU. In Hong Kong, two‑tier pricing across the main menu sees skewers, main dishes and desserts offered at HK$29.90 each, and sides, selected vegetables and a rice‑and‑soup set priced at just HK$19.90. Adding to this accessible approach, a new set lunch menu providing a quick and affordable meal option will be launched, priced at HK$59.90.

The Mong Kok branch celebrates its opening with new flavour surprises, exclusively introducing rare chicken parts. Juicy Chicken Oyster (HK$29.90 for 2) – a cut of just two per chicken from the junction of the back and thigh bone – is salt-grilled until tender and refined in texture. Chicken Breast Cartilage (HK$29.90 for 2) is sourced from the triangular tip of the collarbone – featuring less fat, it is enjoyed for its charred, aromatic skin and crisp bite after salt-grilling.

Working hand‑in‑hand with their counterparts in Japan, the Hong Kong team has also crafted two new speciality sauces to be unveiled in Mong Kok. Honey Mustard Sauce and House Chili Sauce bring multi-layered flavours to salt-grilled skewers including Drumette, Tender and Breast (all HK$29.90 for 2).

All TORIKIZOKU Hong Kong branches join the summer opening celebrations, presenting a Seasonal Menu until 31 August 2026. The beloved centrepiece of TORIKIZOKU Hong Kong’s menu is Kizokuyaki (HK$29.90 each), a generous skewer of tender chicken thigh or breast paired with sweet chunks of spring onion. Customers can personalise the seasoning, savouring the meat with the brand’s classic tare sauce, a sprinkle of pure rock salt, or a touch of pepper spice.

Comfort dishes (HK$29.90 each) showcasing the brand’s homely appeal include Kamameshi, a chicken rice hotpot simmered to order in a small iron pot; the crispy on the outside and tender within Karaage Style Fried Chicken with Spicy Sauce; and the soft and smooth Grilled Fluffy Grated Yam with Egg, which consistently ranks as the most popular choice on the speciality menu. The new arrival of Spicy Dandan Noodles is a must-try for those who crave deep, fiery flavours.

Desserts (HK$29.90 each) are equally tempting. Japanese favourites include Chocolate Milk made with velvety Japanese milk, and Matcha Warabi Mochi and Ice-cream, while Chocolate Parfait with Churros brings a rush of European-style decadence. Ice-cream Mochi (Strawberry Syrup or Chocolate Glaze) is the top choice for cooling off in summer.
