As part of its ongoing 150th anniversary celebration, Unfolding Legacies, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok presents the Light of Bangkok Afternoon Tea, an exclusive collaboration with acclaimed Paris-based fragrance house Parfums Dusita. Available from 1 to 31 August 2026 at The Authors’ Lounge, the limited-time afternoon tea draws inspiration from Light of Bangkok, the bespoke fragrance created for the hotel’s 150th anniversary, bringing together fragrance, gastronomy and craftsmanship in celebration of this milestone year.
Created by Thai perfumer Pissara “Ploi” Umavijani, founder of Paris-based Parfums Dusita, the fragrance was inspired by the hotel’s distinctive atmosphere, from its polished wood interiors and marble floors to the calming hues of Celadon Green. Bright notes of bergamot, clary sage and lemongrass give way to jasmine, ylang-ylang and orris butter before settling into sandalwood, vetiver and musk, capturing both the spirit of Bangkok and the unmistakable character of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok.
Inspired by the fragrance, Pablo Gicquel, the Executive Pastry Chef and the hotel’s culinary team have created an afternoon tea in which each savoury and sweet creation reflects one of its distinctive notes. Savoury creations include bergamot-cured scallop with ylang-ylang, jasmine-scented crab with young coconut, vetiver-infused green pea and pandan xxx, orris with tuna and beetroot, and foie gras with truffle and sandalwood. Sweet highlights include bergamot tea cake, jasmine-scented vanilla cake with mango marmalade, ylang-ylang banana pie, sandalwood-scented whisky chocolate and a commemorative 150th anniversary chocolate sable with lemongrass and jasmine ganache, along with traditional scones and seasonal preserves.
The collaboration continues with two exclusive fragrance workshops on 8 and 29 August 2026, led by Pissara “Ploi” Umavijani, Thai perfumer and founder of Parfums Dusita.
During each session, guests will discover the inspiration behind Light of Bangkok, explore its signature ingredients, and gain exclusive insight into the creative process behind the bespoke fragrance that captures the timeless elegance and gracious hospitality of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok. The workshop concludes with the Light of Bangkok Afternoon Tea, inviting guests to experience the fragrance through both scent and flavour.
