One incredible day, two unforgettable islands. Reef Unlimited is launching its new Fitzroy & Green Island adventure, Two Island Explorer, giving travellers the opportunity to explore two of the Great Barrier Reef’s iconic tropical islands in a seamless one-day tour. Starting Monday, 1 September 2025, Reef Unlimited is the only operator offering guests this exclusive tour that includes both islands in one day.
Guests will cruise to Fitzroy Island onboard the company’s new Aquarius II catamaran, before continuing to Green Island, enjoying over six hours of island time with snorkelling, self-guided walks and optional guided adventures.
The package includes a glass-bottom boat tour at Fitzroy Island, while those keen to get closer to the Reef can take advantage of complimentary snorkel equipment, available for use all day across both islands. This means guests can discover vibrant coral gardens at Fitzroy in the morning and then continue their underwater exploration at Green Island in the afternoon. At Green Island, there’s also the option to join a semi-submersible tour before returning to Cairns aboard the Big Cat.
Whether hiking the rainforest trails of Fitzroy Island or relaxing on Green Island’s white sand beaches, this dual-island escape is perfect for families, couples and solo explorers alike who are looking to maximise their time on the Reef and enjoy two highly regarded attractions in a single, unforgettable day trip.
The seamless experience begins with direct check-in at the vessel—meaning no queues for boarding passes. Throughout the journey, guests can relax in large, spacious, air-conditioned catamarans designed for ultimate comfort while enjoying expert commentary about each island and a fascinating marine biology presentation ensuring a rich, informative and unforgettable reef adventure.
The tour departs at 8:30am from Cairns whisking guests just 45 minutes across the clear north Queensland waters to Fitzroy Island. At 11:45am, participants transfer to Green Island where they can unwind and enjoy the only sand cay on the Great Barrier Reef with a rainforest. The return journey to Cairns on Big Cat commences at 3:45pm arriving back to Cairns around 5:00pm.
The pre-booked price of the Two Island Explorer tour is $196 per adult, $98 per child (age four to 14 years) or $490 per family (two adults and two children). Optional add-ons include boxed lunch at Fitzroy Island or Buffet Lunch onboard Big Cat, guided snorkel safari tours on either island and the Semi-Submersible tour on Green Island.
