At the grand opening ceremony, Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Sorawong Thienthong, remarked, “The year-end season in Thailand is synonymous with joy and vibrant celebrations. The Bangkok Illumination Festival exemplifies our efforts to position Thailand as a world-class event hub. It’s a fusion of innovation and artistry, delivering unforgettable experiences while driving economic growth.”

Moo Deng: The Adorable Star of the Festival

This year’s festival introduces an endearing mascot: Nong Moo Deng, a baby pygmy hippo from the Khao Kheow Open Zoo. With its cheerful demeanour and social media stardom, Moo Deng will guide visitors through a whimsical world of illuminated displays. Under the playful theme “Moo Deng Takes Over Bangkok,” the festival will transform the city into a magical wonderland filled with unique installations, vibrant lights, and interactive experiences.

    • Nimibutr Stadium: A dynamic “DJ Deng” installation creates a vibrant dance hotspot.
    • One Siam Skywalk: Inflatable art with “Madame Deng” welcomes shoppers with whimsical charm.
    • Siam Centre to Central World: Instagram-worthy light installations captivate visitors.
  2. Hua Lamphong to Yaowarat Route
    • Hua Lamphong Station: Modern projection mapping brings the “Dengzilla” concept to life.
    • Phadung Krung Kasem Canal: A scenic waterway adorned with colourful light displays.
    • Thai-Chinese Friendship Road: Illuminated “Deng’s footprints” guide visitors through a scenic journey.
    • Odeon Circle: A “Muay Deng” installation celebrates Chinese-Thai cultural harmony.
  3. Asoke-Sukhumvit Route
    • Asoke BTS Skywalk: Projection mapping and light displays add a futuristic touch.
    • Benjasiri Park: “Deng in the Park” creates a joyful picnic-like atmosphere.
